Welcome to Green Akers Farm, where we strive to make the most of our land, provide for our family and share our experiences. Getting your hands dirty every day, growing things, and working with animals is much different from where we were born & raised. None of us grew up on a farm, but we decided to completely change our lifestyle and become more self-sufficient by means of building a homestead.
In 2004 we settled on a 14 acre property in Raymond, OH. The farm name is pretty self explanatory, if your of a certain age you remember the tv show. We moved from the city to start the farm not knowing a whole lot, but willing to learn as we go. There was also a well known charcter on the show that bears the last name of my Stepfather & Mother, so there you have it, Green Akers it was.
My Stepfather & Mother are both retired from driving school buses for Dublin City schools. Therefore, they are the primary care takers of the farm & are there on a daily basis to keep things in order. I still work full time, so I’m at the farm most weekends helping out. My Stepfather Jim handles the egg, hay, & animal sales, while my Mother does the canning & plays an all around role helping in every aspect as needed. I (Teresa/Tess) handle the dog portion of the farm as well as the livestock husbandry.
